When it Rains

H&M army jacket, H&M skirt, H&M socks, All Saints Boots

As for the rainy Spring and Summer days I like to find shelter under the hood of my Army Jacket, that is when it not pours of course.. Most of the time I just update and make any look rain-proof with this jacket and adding some boots!

I decided to wear the jacket with a short skirt, over-knee socks and All Saints boots. I really became a huge fan of All Saints, especially the leather jackets and the boots. I have a massive wish-list when it comes to their boots!

Lavalune Internship

Lavalune is a dance/yoga-inspired activewear apparel line. The company is currently actively selling wholesale and e-commerce retail. The summer internship will involve design, sewing samples, contract sewing, and modified pattern-making.

Qualifications
Must have good sewing skills
Must be available immediately and have significant time available to work between now and June 4. (Two deadlines coming up quick that I especially need help with.) After that date, there won’t be as much time pressure, and the workload will likely not be as heavy.
Have some pattern-making experience
Fabric knowledge helpful – especially pertaining to drape and stretch capability
Have real samples of your own work (that you’ve sewn) ready to show
Must have some interest in doing contract-sewing
Work from home is OK, but be willing to meet about once per week or as needed (Lewisville area).

Please submit a resume and 3 pictures of clothing/samples you’ve made. Plan to bring these when we meet. I will be calling to interview starting immediately.

Compensation: This is predominantly an unpaid internship, but we will pay for specific functions. More details given during interview.

keep it tone..

purple scalloped blazer courtesy of Storets, H&M Dress, H&M socks, Topshop Wedges

Thats me going tone-on-tone again, the dress, socks and shoes are often in rotation and I just love the the scalloped blazer because it adds a hint of color.

Most of the H&M dresses I'm wearing on my blog are bought about two years ago, well maybe three years ago? I guess they last so many seasons because the design is a quite simple loose fit a-line and easy to style differently. I always try to shop for items that last a while and are not too trendy! I do pick up trends in shoes though :)

Inspiration

Everything via
weheartit.com

Some of my current inspiration, I'm really feeling prints and structures right now, and I'm really loving the colors, no need to say that I need to find myself that Madonna Tee asap!!

My birthday is coming up soon, within a month and I'm trying to figure out if I can somehow make a smart birthday wish-list, you know shoes and stuff, I wish Topshop had somehow a gadget that would allow me to make a wishlist I could email out, hehe

I have different trips planned out, I promised to a friend to visit her in Spain this summer and I'm really looking forward to that and I just heard my Aunt bought a freaking house in Italy (Toscana) that I totally need to check out and last but not least I really really have to get back to New York but I think I wait with the travels till after my Birthday since I haven't had a chance to celebrate it with my family and childhood friends for over 5 years now!!

black bodycon

Purple scalloped blazer courtesy of Storets, Vintage Black Lace Bodycon courtesy of American Archive, Wedge Booties from TopShop, Vintage Purse

This bodycon dress is so comfi to wear, today I'm wearing my wedge booties with them but most of the time I combine the dress with my All Saints boots.

With bodycon/mini dresses I just love blazers and I'm really loving the pastel and scalloped blazers, I guess you can never have too many of them.

The combination becomes almost '90s Beverly Hills 90210, no?

Easy Breezy

Top; Zara, Chiffon Tulip Skirt courtesy of Storets, Booties; Miu Miu

The Weather came out warmer then expected today, I was initially all layered up, same skirt but layered with different tops, I thought I was wrapped up into a sauna so I didn't know how fast to change into something more breezy!!

Oh, I started to catch up on Lost, somewhere I stopped following the series half way of season 3 so I gotta have a whole lotta catching up to do!! This will keep me busy for a while for sure!

Abbey Lee

Abbey Lee Vogue Russia March 2010

I'm in love with this look, I love the big floral crown and have been addicted to these soft pastel colors for Spring and Summer. I really need to shop for big silk flowers to accessorize hair, hats, bracelets and maybe baskets... hmmm

Dress 'n Boots

To edge out romantic, frilly dresses or just simply pastel colors I always stick with boots, these new boots are perfect because they have a heel but maintain a rough look!

I simply belted the H&M shirt dress but did so unevenly (by pulling-out and tucking-back-in the dress below and above the belt)

Oh.. and a little skin secret; I always use Per-fekt body perfection gel on my legs!!!

I'm wearing; H&M dress, H&M belt, Zara bag, Walter coat, Boots

Robert Richard Won 2nd Runner Up in "The Little Black Dress Contest"

Robert Richard (a UNT junior), on Wednesday May 12, 2010, won 2nd Runner Up and a scholarship for $500 in the Neal Hamil Modeling Agency’s “The Little Black Dress Contest” . The contest, in sartorial spirit, challenged fashion design students from Texas to design their own take on “The Little Black Dress”. The dresses were collected on Tuesday March 10, at FGI Houston Career Day and were presented in a fashion show to a panel of celebrity judges such as Chloe Dao from Project Runway: Season II as well as others from Papercity Magazine and Tootsie’s Boutique. The top ten finalists were videoed during the event and footage played at a fundraising reception at the House of Blues in Downtown Houston. The video can be viewed at: http://littleblackdressproject.com/index.html

The Little Black Dress is considered one of the fashion icons of our time, inspiring designers from the moment it was introduced by Chanel in 1926, through Givenchy’s 1961 creation for Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, to the myriad current fashion designers the world over.
Congratulations, Robbie!!

Red Oak Charity Prom Dress Project

(from left to right: Jordan Wiehle, Jennifer Johnson, Courtney E. Powers, Ayumi Makita, Miranda Sullivan, Kirsten Shisko, Shannon Webster, Neil Marek, and Robbie Richard)

On Thursday May 6, 2010 M.O.D.A. (Members Of Designing Arts) presented Miranda Sullivan with the prom dress of her dreams. Miranda was selected specially to receive this opportunity from a handful of deserving students form Red Oak High School through the M.O.D.A. charity prom dress project. Miranda was involved from the very start from the design process to the selection of fabrics and she looked absolutely stunning in the teal evening gown last Saturday, May 8, at the annual Red Oak High School prom formal. M.O.D.A. organized a fabric sale fundraiser earlier in the year in which they raised money to fund Miranda’s prom experience. This money went towards purchasing fabric for the dress, dazzling jewelry and matching shoes. She also visited “Transformations Beauty Salon”, in which she received hair styling, makeup, and a variety of different a spa treatments. The creation of the dress and the completion of this project would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication from the M.O.D.A. officers and current M.O.D.A. members along with the generous support of students within the fashion program outside of M.O.D.A; students were Jonathon Aparicio, Emmanuel Tobias, Kristen Jackson, and Micheal Criggers . Also special thanks go to the faculty of Red Oak High School and the staff at Transformations Hair Salon for all the help and support.

Thanks,
Neil Marek
Vice President of MODA

Pastel Pink Hair

So yes, I did it! After the last post I went straight to the store to get pink dye, I went for a brand called La Riche "Directions" which is a semi-permanent dye and picked the Pastel Pink color, I applied it twice to my hair, first time I directly washed it out, really within a minute and the second time I applied the dye only to the tips of my hair and washed it out within 5 minutes, the result is a washed out faded pink exactly how I wanted it to be!

The weather on the other hand has been horrible!! rain, overcast, more Autumn then Spring!! So it's been hard to get out for an outfit shoot and most of all to get a great shot of my pink hair :/ sucks.. So I guess I have to wait for the Sun to come out again to really enjoy the pink glow!

As for the outfit; I really went for Golds, Beige and Neutrals, the dress is from Diane von Furstenberg, Jacket is Vintage and you can find the boots here
