Assistant Designer and Internship Opportunity at the StitchMaker


Assistant Designer and Internship
 
StitchMaker, a cheerleading uniform and athletic lettering manufacturer, is looking for an entry level Assistant Designer.  Will be responsible for assisting senior designers with creating customer proofs in CorelDraw, organizing and preparing cheer orders for production, designing new cheer uniforms and spirit wear items, creating and digitizing embroidery designs using Wilcom DecoStudio, and helping with Sublimation orders. This is a full time position with 30-40 hours a week.
 
Sublimation is an exciting new field of just in time apparel design and these positions will be associated with the sublimation team so there is plenty of opportunity to learn for people interested in the Internship position and the full-time position.
 
Qualifications
-2-Year or 4-Year Degree in fashion design or graphic design preferred
-Ability to multitask and take initiative on projects
-Detail oriented, organized and able to work in a fast paced environment
-Trainable and willing to learn new skills
-Excellent communication skills and works well as part of a team
-Experienced in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook
-Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign preferred
-Knowledge of CorelDraw and Wilcom Decostudio, a plus but not required

Internship Opportunity at the STATUS


Below are some of the responsibilities and tasks associated with the internship position.  We are a small company, which will allow for you to be exposed to the many facets of running a design company.

Clean and merchandise the boutique space.
    steam the product
    merchandise the clothing racks
    merchandise the mannequins
    clean furniture
    Sweep floor
Check in product for production shipping
    Pick up from Teresa (ensure all pieces are there)
    Double check product according to the invoice
    Pack product in the proper shipping method with the invoice and proper UPS labels
    Ensure that all product is tagged appropriately
Create hang tags for production
    Print labels for hangtags in Microsoft Word
    Going off the cut ticket, I prepare hang tags ahead of time to give to Teresa along with the cut
    If not completed before receiving product from Teresa, I tag and ensure all product is properly tagged.
Track inventory
    Spread sheet creation for incoming inventory
    Circa Inventory once a month
    Inventory updates on STATUS shopping website (new product [pre-orders], and current stock)
Marketing tasks
    Email blast
    Monitoring STATUS facebook (posts, communications, etc)
    Updating the website
    Organizing photos
    Scheduling product photoshoots for upcoming lines
    Hostess at STATUS events
Miscellaneous
    Cut fabric swatches for line sheets (three sets, Sarah, Dan, Emmalena)
    Prepare line sheets (printing, organizing, attaching swatches)
    Pack samples to be shipped (include copy of inventory sheet and file inventory sheet for records)
    Organize back office
    Minor photo editing (sometimes)
    Marketing images creation
    (in the future?) Look books
    (in the future) follow up with customers about shipments and stock quality, possibly get re-orders

Intern Responsibilities:
File and organize patterns, cutters musts, fit notes, etc. Go to the factories to spec check garments being shipped out. Spec sample and factory garments. Prepare samples (spec and sometimes iron/steam) for weekly fittings; as well as, assist and stand in on fittings. Import inspection of production garments for imports with beading/embroidery and bridal. Open and prepare packages to and from warehouse/stock. And assist Production/Technical Design team as needed; demonstrate corrections in programs such as Excel, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Internship Opportunity at Nha Khanh 
Nha Khanh (2008 alumni) is looking for interns for our Fall Internship Program at our studio in Addison, TX.  Interns must be self-motivated, creative, strong work ethic, able to multitask and take direction well.  This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on experience in the designing, production, marketing and PR of a womanswear brand from initial design concepts through sales and production.
This 3 months period internship is unpaid.

Responsibilities:
Design work – Assisting ready to wear line and atelier line
Maintain pattern log
Assist in tradeshows, showroom appointments and Fashion Week activities
Update and maintain customer files
General upkeep of the studio
Inventory of current stock
Pick up samples

Requirements:
Must have strong administrative office skills
A college major in fashion design, merchandising, or marketing
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc)
Knowledge of Photoshop or Illustrator is a plus
Must be self-motivated, professional, organized and an excellent communicator who can articulate ideas clearly and efficiently
Work minimum of 16 hours per week.

NEEDED/ WANTED

ART/GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDENT INTERN:
·      Must have some knowledge of graphic design to be able to create mailers and evites
·      Help with the development and design of a NEW COMPANY WEBSITE
·      Have some photography skills to take pictures of new product
·      Be able to style mannequins with clothing and jewelry for photography

COMPUTER/ CUSTOMER SERVICE INTERN:
·      Daily e-mails
·      Know how or learn how to work the Point Of Sale (POS) system
o   Entering new customers/new vendors
o   Entering invoices
o   Adding new product
o   Print tickets for new clothing or accessories that come in
·      Coordinate the printing, addressing, and postage for mailers

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN:
·      Post updates on trends, styles, and new arrivals that we get in on all social media sites: FACEBOOK, TWITTER, PINTREST, & NEW WEBSITE
·      Help with marketing: e-vites, mailers, social media updates
·      Send out e-vites  for shows to customers

ALL INTERNS:
·      Need to be able to help with the following:
o   Run errands to Post Office, Office Depot, Bank, P/U Packages, etc…
o   Handle Deliveries: Open boxes, Check-in merchandise, Tag new merchandise
o   Make runs to both Fed Ex & UPS to send out packages
o   Help with the Set-up and Break-down of local shows

Fall 2013 Design Administrator Internship at The Apparel Group Ltd.

 
Position Title: Fall13 Design Administrator Internship
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ø  Maintain and organize fabric library, this includes hanging up fabric cards and clearing out outdated hangers. (May require climbing up and down on ladders)
Ø  Set up courier packages to vendors and customers
Ø  Clean and organize design areas
Ø  Swatch and file testing fabric qualities with copies of test report in Non-Iron binders. Maintain and organized these binders.
Ø  Log in new developments such as trial weaves, handlooms, and lab dips
Ø  Receive and stamp date on fabric hangers or swatches.
Ø  Assists with presentation materials such as cutting swatches, spray mounting images, etc.
Education, Knowledge and Skills:
Ø  Must be detail oriented and ability to multi tasks
Ø  Strong organizational and communication skills
Ø  Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word,Notes)
Ø  Love to work with fabric.
