Scoular Hall Relocation

A message from Jean MK Miller, Associate Dean of Administrative Affairs, College of Visual Arts and Design:

Dear CVAD Students,

As you may have heard from your professors, Scoular Hall will be demolished next summer to make room for the construction of the Student Union. A new 10-year temporary facility will be built on the Church of Christ site on Welch and Chestnut to house the Fibers and Fashion Design programs, as well as the Texas Fashion Collection. The Church of Christ building will be demolished this fall to make way for this construction project.

The Fashion Design and Fibers faculty and the Texas Fashion Collection (TFC) director and staff have been busy all summer and early fall semester, working with UNT's Department of Facilities Planning to develop an architectural and relocation plan. We are now at the stage where we are reviewing where the TFC, classrooms, equipment, and offices will reside within the building.

While this is a temporary building, we are excited by this next move because it also provides a base for planning as we look forward to designing a new CVAD building in the future.

As this project proceeds, the Dean's Office will keep you updated. In the meantime, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to talk with your professors or contact the associate deans in the Dean's Office at:

Eric Ligon, Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, Eric.Ligon@unt.edu
Jean MK Miller, Associate Dean of Administrative Affairs, Jean.Miller@unt.edu

We thank you ahead of time for your patience during this project.
